District News-Looking forward to 2008-09 Print E-mail
Written by Dr. Bryan McCabe

The Cold Spring School Board meets for the final time this school year on Monday, June 9, at 6:00 PM in the school auditorium. Agenda items include:

  • Adoption of the 2008-09 District Budget
  • Consideration of placing a small $2.44 million bond on the November 4, 2008 ballot to renovate the oldest classrooms and buildings
  • Approval of the GATE Program application
  • Approval of the school improvement plan
  • Update on plans to renovate the school’s play field

In the budget planning process this spring, the Board considered a variety of options in determining the best means of maintaining the school’s outstanding academic program, addressing the school’s facility repair needs, and developing an adequate reserve that protects the Districts’ programs and employees during the current period of economic uncertainties. The 2008-09 District Budget maintains 13 classroom teachers. All current academic and specialist programs are funded, including the two District supported after school programs – chorus and Spanish. A new chorus director is being hired for the year while Mrs. Herzog takes a break from the after school program. She will be the full time music teacher next year teaching Kindergarten through sixth grade. Due to limited interest, the District has not offered an after school band program for several years.
