SSDA

Dear Parents and Community Members,

I am thrilled to share that Yuri Calderon, our esteemed Chief Business Officer and Legal Counsel, has been appointed as the Executive Director of the Statewide Small School Districts’ Association (SSDA), effective June 1, 2024. SSDA plays a crucial role in supporting small school districts throughout California, offering resources and advocacy to enhance educational quality in our communities. The Association's mission aligns with empowering districts through innovation, collaboration, and strategic leadership, ensuring exceptional educational opportunities for all students.

Yuri's appointment is a testament to his visionary leadership, extensive background in public education, and strategic planning skills, which echo SSDA’s commitment to our small community schools. As he prepares to advocate for our interests at the State Capitol, Yuri will begin transitioning into this new role starting June 2024. He will also support the development of our Local Control & Accountability Plan (LCAP) and the 2024-2025 fiscal year budget during this time.

During his tenure with the Cold Spring School District, Yuri has achieved remarkable accomplishments: balancing our budget annually, overseeing the construction of our commercial kitchen, and spearheading the development of our outstanding breakfast and lunch programs. His dedication was instrumental in the realization of our new STEAM and Art Laboratory Building, set to open this summer. His innovative financing strategies and diligent oversight enabled Cold Spring to complete this project successfully.

We are profoundly grateful for Yuri’s dedication, core values, and servant’s heart. His contributions have significantly impacted our district, and we are excited to see him bring his expertise to a larger stage.

Please join me in congratulating Yuri on his new appointment and in celebrating his achievements.

Warm regards,

Dr. Amy Alzina

Superintendent
