Dear Cold Spring School Families,
It has been a week filled with achievements, appreciation, and plenty of school spirit at Cold Spring.
Our fourth through sixth graders represented Cold Spring with pride at the 12th Annual All Santa Barbara and Montecito Schools Track and Field Meet, earning an impressive 2nd place overall, just four points behind the top team. Even more exciting, Cold Spring was awarded the 2025 School Spirit Award, voted on by PE teachers from across all participating schools. Congratulations to our student-athletes for their determination, sportsmanship, and unity.
This past weekend’s Saddle Up Soiree Annual School Gala was a memorable evening of connection and generosity. Foundation Co-Presidents, Brooke and Patrick Castillo, chaired a beautifully coordinated event; gratitude to everyone who supported the Gala. Our students helped kickoff our festivities with Western Dress Day on Friday. We loved seeing all the boots, hats, and western flair!
This week, we celebrate Teacher Appreciation, recognizing our incredible educators for their tireless dedication and heart. Our Parent Club and families showed up strong for our teachers with treats, flowers, and gifts to show them just how appreciated they are.
Today is Walk and Roll to School Day, promoting healthy habits and safe routes to school. It was great to see so many students biking, walking, and scooting with smiles on their faces this morning.
And we’re thrilled to announce several wins from the Santa Barbara Art Fair, where our 2nd grade clock project was honored at the state level. These awards are a reflection of our students’ creativity, innovation, and teamwork. Bravo!
Here’s what’s coming up next week:
Principal’s Coffee – Monday morning, May 12th, at 8:30 am (auditorium)
Annual Art Fair – Thursday, May 15th, at 5:00 pm
Note that the Dolphin Center will close early at 4:00 pm on Thursday to accommodate Art Fair setup. Please plan accordingly, and we ask that the Dolphin Center be reserved for working families unable to pick up at regular dismissal.
Finally, I’ll be representing Cold Spring at the ACSA State Leadership Assembly later this week in Los Angeles. I look forward to collaborating with school leadership and bringing new ideas back to the Cold Spring community.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead.
Warmly,
Dr. Amy Alzina
