Dear Cold Spring Families and Community,

We are having another wonderful week at Cold Spring School! I’ve truly enjoyed spending time in classrooms and observing our students engaged in learning. One of the highlights of my week was watching our TK students try passion fruit for the very first time—it was such a joy to see their curiosity and excitement.

This week’s newsletter includes several important updates and opportunities:

Cold Spring Chorus – Learn how your child can join our school chorus program.

Principal’s Coffee with Adam Brotman – On Tuesday, October 7th at 8:30am, we are honored to welcome Adam Brotman, former Cold Spring parent, CEO of Forum3, and co-author of AI First (Harvard Business Review). Adam will share his insights on artificial intelligence and its impact on our future. This is a conversation you won’t want to miss!

🧹 Employment Opportunities – We are currently seeking a full-time day custodian and a part-time morning instructional assistant. Please share with anyone who may be interested—the application link is included in this newsletter.

🎃 Fall Festival – Mark your calendars for our Fall Festival on Monday, October 21st. Our Parent Club has included a flyer with details.

🏃 Run Club with Dr. Alzina – Starting next Wednesday at 7:45am, I’ll be kicking off our Run Club! Parents are welcome to run alongside their children. Each student will have a QR code card to track their laps (five laps = one mile).

📋 School Site Council – We are looking for two additional parents to join our School Site Council. Please see the information in this newsletter if you are interested in serving.

🏫 Middle School Information Night – On Tuesday, October 15th from 5:00–6:00pm, families are invited to attend our Middle School Information Night to learn more about junior high options in Santa Barbara.

💙 Parent Guidance & Mental Health Resources – Don’t forget that our district provides free access to on-demand videos and personalized parent coaching to support student mental health. This service—valued at $20,000 annually—is available to every Cold Spring family, so I encourage you to take advantage of it.

As always, I am grateful for the strong sense of teamwork and community that makes Cold Spring such a special place. Thank you for your partnership as we continue to create joyful, meaningful learning experiences for our students.

Warmly,

Dr. Amy Alzina
