A Wonderful Week at Cold Spring School
It’s been another great week at Cold Spring School! We had such a wonderful time kicking off our Foundation Fundraiser last Friday with the Westmont College student-athletes. They brought incredible energy and joy to our campus, and I’m excited to share that they’ll be joining us the first Friday of every month to welcome our students. On those Fridays, I encourage all students to wear their favorite college or university attire and show their school spirit!
I’m also deeply grateful to Adam Brotman for joining our Cold Spring parents this week to share his insights on the future of AI and how it can empower our community. His message was both inspiring and thought-provoking.
As we look ahead, please remember that there will be no school on Monday, October 13th, as it is a professional learning day for our teachers. I’ll be working alongside our staff and Joe Isaacson, Director of Special Education for the Santa Barbara County Office of Education, as we continue our Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, October 14th.
Lastly, a huge thank-you to everyone who has already contributed to the Cold Spring School Foundation. Your generosity supports the robust programs that make our school exceptional. A big shout-out to Mrs. Yost’s kindergarten class, the first class to reach 100% parent participation in this year’s Foundation drive! I can’t wait to see which class will be next!
I am so grateful to be part of this fantastic community. Thank you all for your continued partnership and support.
My best,
Dr. Alzina

No School on Monday, October 13th — Teacher Professional Learning Day
There will be no school for students on Monday, October 13th, as our Cold Spring teachers will be participating in a Professional Learning Day. I’ll be working alongside Joe Isaacson, Director of Special Education for the Santa Barbara County Office of Education, to lead our staff in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
This important training helps ensure that all of our teachers are prepared to respond calmly and effectively when students experience moments of frustration, anger, or emotional distress. I’m incredibly thankful for our time together as a team, as we continue to grow and strengthen our skills to meet the needs of every student at Cold Spring School.
We’ll continue this important conversation with Joe Isaacson as our guest speaker at my next Principal’s Coffee on Tuesday, November 4th, where he’ll share helpful strategies for parents on how to support children during “fight or flight” moments.
