STEAM and Art Building Update

I am pleased to report that our building project has had a very successful start.  The contractor, Edwards Construction Group, was able to complete the over-excavation and re-compaction work in record time.  This involved excavating under the foundation of the building and returning the soil in layers through a process that includes compacting to provide a stable foundation for the building.  This is required as part of the building code for schools to withstand seismic events.  The contractor is now working on underground utilities for the site.  There will be a short lull in the project as we work on some minor modifications to the design to reduce cost and achieve some “value engineering”.  The project continues to be on schedule as planned for a completion at the end of the school year.

Much gratitude to our students, teachers, staff, and community for their patience with construction noise and the inconveniences associated with a portion of our playfield being used for construction lay-down area.  We are all very excited to see the building come out of the ground.
