3rd Grade lesson taught by Mr. Pierce

Mid-Year Student Data

Our teachers have been gathering mid-year formative assessment data from our students in Reading, Math and Writing.  This data is used to evaluate our student interventions and enrichment.  I’m proud to share that our students are responding very well to the support they are receiving at school and at home.  You will find attached a summary powerpoint for your reference.

Raising Our Light Event

After thoughtful discussion, the Montecito Community Partnership Team has decided not to hold the Raising Our Light event this year.   With many community members recovering from the latest round of storms that coincided with the 1/9 Debris Flow date, the team felt it may be difficult for people to attend a remembrance event.  The 23 community members we lost five years ago remain in our hearts and were certainly remembered by many on 1/9 as we faced a treacherous storm and evacuations.

The Community Wellness Team, which formed in 2018 to support locals following the Thomas Fire and Debris Flow, remains available for mental health help. The CWT can be reached anytime by calling 805-364-2750.

The Montecito Community Partnership Team includes Montecito Fire Protection District, Santa Barbara Bucket Brigade, Montecito Association, Montecito Journal, Montecito Union School District, Cold Spring School District and the Santa Barbara County Department of Behavioral Wellness.

The County of Santa Barbara has created a one-stop shop for recovery assistance at ReadySBC.com in English and Spanish.  As information and additional resources become available, they will be posted on the www.ReadySBC.com website.  If you are unable to navigate the website, the Call Center can provide you with the information posted. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (833) 688-5551.

RECOVERY RESOURCES: The County is continuing to gather resources for community members impacted by the January 2023 winter storm event. This January 2023 Storm Recovery Webpage is a source of resource information, including links for wellness counseling support, housing assistance, information to aid in rebuilding, permitting, hazardous material clean-up, loss of business or employment, and other topics.

Additional information on Debris Management Resources can be found on ReadySBC

Do you want to be a Substitute Teacher?

Because of the state teacher shortage, the application to obtain an Emergency Credential to Substitute Teach just got easier! As of January 1, 2023, a temporary waiver of the Basic Skills Requirement to apply for the credential is now available.  You no longer need to take the CBEST.  The only educational requirement is a BA or BS degree. If you are interested in becoming a substitute teacher, please give Coral Godlis a call in the office. Substitute teaching is a great way to work with all the grade levels and get to know our wonderful students.
