Important Reminder: No School on October 13th and October 16th for Teacher Professional Development This is a reminder that there is no school for students on Friday, October 13th and Monday, October 17th due to a Professional Development Day for our teachers.

Fall Festival Early Dismissal and No Dolphin Center The Fall Festival will be held on Friday, October 27th from 2:30-5:30 PM. All families and community members are invited to attend.  Students will be dismissed from school early at 12:30 PM. Very important: Dolphin Center is canceled due to the event setup. Please plan to pick up your child immediately after school at 12:30 PM.  


Board Meeting Highlights from the October 9th Regular Meeting

  • The Board accepted a donation to the district from Pavilions for $5,000. 

  • Dr. Alzina and Mr. Calderon met with Assembly Member Gregg Hart. They spoke to him regarding the priority to maintain local control in school districts. 

  • Dr. Alzina attended the SSDA Board Retreat. The SSDA Board welcomed a new Executive Director and met about the need to maintain local control in school districts. 

  • Dr. Alzina reported that the Renaissance Learning STAR Reading and Math Assessments are now being administered to students.  The results are used to monitor student growth toward their learning goals.  

  • The Fourth Grade is going on a trip this school year to Sacramento to study California History and the Gold Rush. This trip will be partially funded by the ELOP grant funds. 

  • Dr. Alzina presented an update on the state of the District’s Technology. 

  • Dr. Alzina shared the official public release of the 2022-23 CAASPP scores is scheduled for October 18th.  According to the preview that was released to superintendents last week, Cold Spring School maintained excellent scores with 93.88% of students meeting or exceeding the standards in English Language Arts and 92.79% meeting or exceeding the standards in Math. These scores will be reflected in the California Dashboard under Student Achievement. 

  • Zoe Copus, a representative from the Measure C Bond Oversight Committee (“CBOC”), presented the CBOC’s final annual report of the 2022-23 Measure C expenditures.  Mrs. Copus reported all of the funds have been spent in accordance with the Measure C project list. 

  • The Board approved the Developer Fee Report. Mr. Calderon reported the Developer Fees will be spent on the New Classroom Building project. 

  • The Board approved a Resolution authorizing the reimbursement of General Funds spent on the construction of the new Art & STEAM classroom building from a future general obligation bond, if approved by the voters.. 


Lost and Found

The lost and found is overflowing with sweaters and jackets. It is located in the hallway by the library if you would like to check to see if anything belongs to you. Thank you!
