Spirit Day
The student council’s first Spirit Day is on Friday, November 17th. The theme is “Cold Spring” Spirit. Please wear Cold Spring colors and swag. The class with the most spirit gets to hold the Dolphin trophy until our next Spirit Day.
Safe Routes to School
Join me at my Principal’s Coffee on December 11th at 8:30 AM with guest speaker Abe Powell from the Bucket Brigade. Mr. Powell and his team of volunteers will be sharing an update on our Safe Routes to School. The Bucket Brigade recently completed the Barker Pass trail and Camino Viejo trail, and are looking for our support to extend their work to Sycamore Canyon Trail. I encourage all parents who are interested in a safe walking trail to school to attend this important meeting. Your presence and input will contribute significantly to the success of this initiative.
Unity Shoppe Food Drive
Student Council is sponsoring the Thanksgiving Food Drive with the Unity Shoppe. There are donation boxes outside of each classroom. Students are collecting donations through Friday, November 17th.
Conference Week and Minimum Days
All students will be dismissed at 12:15 PM during Conference week - Monday, November 13th - Friday, November 17th. Dolphin Center will be available at 12:15 PM upon student dismissal.
Turkey Trot Run: Friday, November 17th at 10:45 AM
The annual Turkey Trot is on Friday, November 18th at 10:45 AM. Every student participates and has a great time chasing our big turkeys. Everyone is welcome to come watch the event including grandparents, siblings, etc. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
IMPORTANT: If it rains, the event will be optional for all children. I have volunteered to serve as the wet turkey. Please pack a towel and a dry set of clothes for your child. Students can be dismissed after the event as long as they are signed out with their teacher and the office.
Board Meeting Highlights from the November 13th Regular Session
Dr. Alzina recognized Sara DiSalvo for doing an exceptional job with the Fall Sing performances.
Dr. Alzina and the Board thanked Cold Spring parents Lenci Bakey, Zoe Copus, Brooke Costello, and Kym Barlow for their volunteer work with the Fall Festival and Pumpkin Carving Contest
Dr. Alzina recognized Mr. Yuri Calderon for being awarded the Small School Districts Association State-Wide Chief Business Officer of the Year Award at the SSDA Business Services Conference.
Dr. Alzina presented the first trimester summative student data summary highlighting growth in both ELA and Math in Grades TK-6.
The Board approved the LCAP Mid Year Update.
The Board adopted the Superintendent Goals for the 2023-24 school year.
The Board approved the amended and restated Superintendent/Principal Contract.
Mr. Yuri Calderon presented preliminary First Interim data. The First Interim Report will be presented for adoption at the December Governing Board Meeting.
The Board also received an update on the Art and STEAM Classroom Building construction from Yuri Calderon.
Winter Sing! Tuesday, December 12 & Wednesday, December 13 at 10:30 AM
Please join us for the Winter Sing, December 12th -13th from 10:30 AM-11:30 AM! Considered Coffee will be on campus both days from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. You’re invited to come early, get a warm drink, and fellowship with us before the event.
