Running Club
Congratulations to all our Wednesday Morning Running Club Runners.  We would love to see more families join us next Wednesday from 7:45AM-8:30AM.  It’s a great way to connect with your child and get a workout at the same time.  


Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday: Monday, January 15
NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 15 to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  


After School Academic Chess for 2nd - 4th Grade (Direct Fee $112 - Outside Contracted Vendor)

Academic Chess is being offered every Friday from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM for 2nd - 4th grade students in Room 9 (Ms. Wooten’s classroom). This wonderful learning experience not only teaches children to play chess but also prepares them for life by enhancing their thought process. Board Highlights from the January 8, 2024 Meeting

  • Dr. Alzina recognized Ms. DiSalvo for putting together another amazing Winter Sing for the school. 

  • Dr. Alzina announced the Anniversary of the Debris Flow events. The school will recognize this event by having a day of EXTRA Love and Kindness. Cold Spring School sixth grade students will be ringing the school bell 23 times at 6:30 PM in conjunction with the Montecito community.

  • Dr. Alzina presented the CA Dashboard and Local Indicators for Cold Spring School District. Cold Spring School has met the standards in every category for the Dashboard. Chronic Absenteeism continues to be a challenge for schools including Cold Spring School despite ongoing efforts to address this issue. Dr. Alzina continues to encourage families to take all their vacations during scheduled breaks.

  • The Board approved the Cold Spring School District Calendar for the 2024-25 school year. The first day of school will be on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

  • The Board approved the Comprehensive School Safety Plan. Dr. Alzina worked with local school districts and emergency personnel to standardize the language for school emergencies. Cold Spring continues to adopt the Standard Response Protocols created by the “I love you guys” foundation.  Dr. Alzina has met with the local Sheriff, Fire Chief, and LCAP Committee for approval of the plan.   • The Board approved the School Accountability Report Card for the 2022-23 school year. The SARC can be found on the Cold Spring School District website. 


Cold Spring School Variety Show: February 7th

The CSS Variety Show is scheduled for February 7th. Auditions for the Variety Show will be on Thursday, January 25th. Sign ups for the Variety Show are on the bulletin board outside the school office. 


Event to Watch - All School Read-a-thon
The Annual All School Read-a-thon will run from January 29th through February 12th. This is one of the Parent Club’s biggest fundraisers! More information to come from the Parent Club.


Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten Enrollment, 2024-25 School Year
Incoming TK/Kindergarten Enrollment is happening now! Please contact the office to start the enrollment process so we can begin planning for the 2024-2025 school year. The Transitional Kindergarten window has been extended. If your child's 5th birthday falls between September 2nd and June 2nd, they qualify for Transitional Kindergarten.

If you know anyone who is interested in taking a school tour, please encourage them to make an appointment with the school office for one of the listed dates below:
