Cold Spring Track Team

Results

Dear Cold Spring Community,

We are excited to share the results of an incredible day of athleticism, teamwork, and school spirit at the 12th Annual All Santa Barbara and Montecito Schools Track and Field Meet, held at Westmont College on Monday, May 5th.

Our Cold Spring fourth through sixth grade student-athletes competed with heart, determination, and sportsmanship across 11 events—from the high jump to the 800-meter run—against students from Roosevelt, Montecito Union, Adams, Cleveland, Washington, Harding, Monroe, Franklin, and McKinley.

We are proud to announce that  Cold Spring School placed 2nd overall, just behind Roosevelt by only four points! Here are the top team scores:

  • Roosevelt – 120 points

  • Cold Spring – 116 points

  • Washington – 115 points

  • Adams – 91 points

Additionally,  Cold Spring was honored with the 2025 School Spirit Award, voted on by PE teachers from all participating schools! This award recognizes the positive energy, encouragement, and unity our students displayed throughout the event.

This special day wouldn’t have been possible without the vision and partnership of Westmont College Track and Field Coach Russell Smelley, Cold Spring parent volunteers, Westmont student helpers, and the outstanding PE teachers across all participating schools. A heartfelt thank you to our own PE team and staff who helped prepare our students to shine!

Twelve years ago, Coach Smelley and I launched this event to bring students together from across Santa Barbara and Montecito, expose them to the sport of track and field, and give them the opportunity to experience a college campus setting. It’s about more than competition; it’s about connection, confidence, and community.

Please join me in celebrating our incredible Cold Spring student-athletes, you make us proud!

Warmly,

Dr. Amy Alzina
