CSS Edible Art Winners 2025

Dear Cold Spring School Families,

Our campus has been full of meaningful moments this week, as students continue to grow, create, and connect across classrooms and grade levels.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Thursday for the Annual Art Fair. The campus was truly transformed into a celebration of creativity. The edible art contest really showcased how incredible our budding little student artists are! The artwork reflected not only their talent, but also the care and guidance of their teachers and the support of their families. It was a beautiful evening of families exploring how our students learn in the classroom and an expression of how full of life our school community is.

Thank you to everyone who showed up for our Principal’s Coffee on Monday. I was able to share updates on the school’s goals and progress with a presentation on our current LCAP, and welcomed thoughtful questions and feedback from families. These conversations help guide our shared vision and ensure transparency and collaboration across our community.

Coming up this week, the First Grade Patriotic Sing will take place this Thursday, May 22 at 8:30 am in the auditorium. This cherished tradition is always a meaningful way to reflect on the values of community, country, and gratitude through student voices. The students are excited for another chance to perform since the Spring Sings!

And on Friday, May 23, please say hello to “Principal Nimmons.” Cold Spring School is excited to host raffle-winner Katherine Nimmons as our Principal for the Day. This special tradition highlights student leadership and gives one lucky student the chance to step into the role with pride and creativity. We look forward to her perspective and participation.

Looking ahead to next week:

  • On Tuesday, May 27 at 9:00 a.m., we will host a school tour for prospective families. This is the last tour of the current school year!

  • On Wednesday, May 28, our top fourth through sixth grade mathematicians will compete in the Santa Barbara County Math Super Bowl at the Page Youth Center. Good luck to all our participants!

  • Also on Wednesday, May 28, the sixth-grade class will present a special all-school lunchtime performance of High School Musical, Jr. Families are invited to join us for the full evening shows on Wednesday, May 28 and Thursday, May 29 at 6pm. The students. Ms. DiSalvo, and Ms. Bryant have put in tremendous effort, and we look forward to celebrating their creativity and collaboration on stage.

As we head into the long weekend, my staff and I wish all of our families a safe and meaningful Memorial Day holiday. May it be a time of great weather and rest before the last push through to the end of the school year and summer break!

Warmly,

Dr. Amy Alzina
Superintendent/Principal

6th Grade Fundraiser for the Santa Barbara Cancer Foundation

Our 6th grade students have chosen to support the Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara, a cause close to many hearts in our community. They have created a heartfelt video to share more about their project and how they are making a difference. Additionally, we invite you to check out the above flier that highlights our wonderful, student-designed fundraiser t-shirts available for purchase. Purchasing a t-shirt is a wonderful way to show your support!

We are so proud of our students for using their voices and efforts to help others (Habit 8). Thank you for joining us in celebrating and supporting their inspiring initiative.
