MEETING

🌟 Cold Spring School Community Update

Dear Cold Spring Families,

I hope this message finds you well as we move deeper into this beautiful fall season together!

First, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Maiz Picante Taqueria and its owner, Mr. Francisco Cavazos, one of our wonderful new TK parents, for generously sponsoring and donating our staff luncheon during Monday’s professional learning day. Our teachers and staff enjoyed an incredible meal while engaging in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) training, led by Joe Isaacson, Coordinator of Special Education from the Santa Barbara County Office of Education. This important training helped our educators learn strategies to support and de-regulate students in times of stress, and I’m so proud of the nearly full participation from our teaching team. Thank you again, Mr. Cavazos, for your kindness and community spirit!

This evening, I’m looking forward to welcoming families to our Middle School Information Night, held from 5:00–6:00 p.m. in our auditorium. We’ll be joined by both public and private junior high schools, and families from Montecito Union School are also invited to attend. This is a great opportunity to learn more about middle school options and pathways for our graduating Dolphins.

We’re also thrilled to announce that our Chaucer’s Book Fair launches soon! A big thank-you to our Parent Club for organizing this beloved event—25% of all sales go directly back to support our students and school programs.

Please mark your calendars for several upcoming events:

  • 📸 Picture DayTuesday, October 22

  • 🎃 Fall FestivalThursday, October 24

  • 🎶 Fall Sings and our Halloween celebrations to follow

As a friendly reminder, students are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes to school, but we ask that there be no scary, gory, or bloody costumes, and of course, no pretend weapons of any kind on campus. Thank you for helping us keep this a fun and safe day for everyone!

Finally, I want to remind all families that Cold Spring School District proudly invests $15,000 each year to ensure that our parents and staff have free access to ParentGuidance.org’s mental health resources and parent coaching. These supports are confidential, available online, and an incredible resource for anyone seeking guidance on parenting, emotional wellness, or supporting a child’s mental health. Please take advantage of these services—they’re here for you.

As always, I’m deeply grateful for our strong partnership and the incredible community we’ve built together. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to ensuring that every student at Cold Spring thrives.

With appreciation and Dolphin pride,

Dr. Alzina
