Dear Cold Spring Families,
I hope you all had a restful week of gratitude and Thanksgiving. It has been wonderful returning to campus and feeling the students’ excitement as we head into the holiday season. Being around their joy truly keeps us young!
Thank you to all who joined me for our Superintendent/Principal’s Coffee last week. I loved teaching parents how to use one of my favorite AI learning tools—Google’s NotebookLM. I use it constantly to learn new content, and I encourage anyone who hasn’t tried it yet to check it out. More AI workshops are coming soon, and I look forward to sharing additional “favorite things” with you in the months ahead.
We have a full and festive month at Cold Spring, and here are a few highlights:
🎶 Student Chorus Performance – Tomorrow at 8:00 AM
Our Chorus students will be singing holiday selections outside on the Art Patio tomorrow morning. I encourage you to grab a coffee and enjoy this sweet kickoff to their winter performances.
🎁 Unity Shop Toy Drive – Schoolwide Goal: 200 Toys
Our incredible Student Council is collecting toys for the Unity Shop. If we reach 200 toys, Gavin Roy Productions has generously promised us a Snow Day at Cold Spring on December 19th! Thank you for helping us make a big difference for local families.
🛍 Holiday Market – This Saturday, 9:00–10:30 AM
Our student entrepreneurs are excited to sell their handmade items at the annual Holiday Market. We’ve been talking about pricing, marketing, and beginning business strategies—such valuable learning for our kids. We hope to see you there!
❄️ Winter Sings – December 11 & 12
Please check the schedule for your child’s performance time. These are always beloved Cold Spring traditions, and we look forward to celebrating our talented students.
☕ Sixth Grade Fundraiser: Coffee & Pastries
Our sixth graders will be selling coffee and pastries before each Winter Sing performance to support their end-of-year activities. Come early, grab a treat, and support our oldest Dolphins!
In addition, they will also be selling Crazy Holiday Hats on:
December 17–19
8:00–8:20 AM
Approximately $10 per hat
Please support our sixth graders by purchasing your child’s Crazy Hat directly from them. These will be perfect for our Crazy Holiday Hat Day on December 19th!
🏃 Top Runners Update
A few more miles were added to our leaderboard—our runners are now well over 20 miles! Thank you for encouraging our students to stay active and committed.
As you can see, we have so much happening on campus this month. Every day feels like an adventure, and I am truly grateful to lead such a joyful, engaged, and supportive school community. I wake up each day feeling blessed to be part of Cold Spring.
Thank you, and have a wonderful evening. Enjoy the newsletter!
Warmly,
Dr. Alzina
