Cold Spring Families,

I hope you enjoyed our four-day weekend for the President’s Holiday. I loved walking into classrooms on Tuesday morning and listening to our kindergarten students share their weekend highlights as some went skiing in Mammoth, some tried ice skating for the very first time, and some proudly shared about golfing with their dad. Hearing their stories is such a joyful reminder of the many ways our children connect with you outside of school and how quickly these moments pass.

I’m writing with a full heart, because my youngest turns 18 on February 23. Having a 20-year-old and an almost-18-year-old still feels surreal. It seems like yesterday they were five. And I know when children are little, each day can feel like a month sometimes (especially when they’re testing boundaries or arguing with siblings!). But I want to encourage you to pause when you can and remember: these years truly do go by fast. Treasure the everyday moments. Many of the “big” challenges of today will feel much smaller in hindsight. What you’re doing, day by day, is laying the foundation for your child to grow into a kind, grounded, and most importantly, loving adult.

As we head into a short week, we don’t have many announcements for the rest of February, but we do have one exciting event on the horizon: our Talent Show! Talent Show tryouts will be held on Tuesday, February 25, in the afternoon. This is such a special opportunity for students to be their authentic selves, try something new, build confidence, and share what they love on stage. I’m so grateful for a community that creates spaces like this for our children to thrive.

Wishing you a smooth rest of the week and hopefully a little break from the rain (though it looks like it may be coming back).

With love and appreciation,

Dr. Alzina
