Dear Cold Spring Families,

We have so many fun events ahead, and I am excited to share a few highlights with you!

Wednesday Morning Run Club Has Resumed

Our Wednesday Morning Run Club is back! Families are welcome to join us every Wednesday morning from 7:45–8:22 a.m. on the upper field. It is a great way to start the day with movement, energy, and community.

We are getting ready for our Move-a-thon this Friday! Please see the information below for all of the event details. We are also adding something new this year—a fun teacher race that will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. on the basketball courts. You will not want to miss it, so be sure to arrive on time—it is sure to put a smile on your face!

Foundation Event This Saturday

We are also looking forward to our Foundation event on Saturday. Much gratitude to our Foundation Presidents, Brooke and Patrick Costello, for their leadership and dedication to our school community.

Principal of the Day Raffle

Students often ask how they can become Principal of the Day. This special opportunity is awarded through a random drawing. Tickets can be purchased through the link below, and the winning name will be drawn on Saturday the 18th.

Science Fair and Arbor Day Coming Up

Next week, we are excited for our Science Fair on Wednesday, April 22, followed by our annual Arbor Day celebration on Friday, April 24. This year, our kindergarten students will be planting an orange tree in the garden. Kindergarten parents are warmly invited to join us at 8:30 a.m. for this special celebration.

Santa Barbara Unified Community Input Opportunity

Santa Barbara Unified, our feeder district, asked me to share information regarding the new Armory CTE and Multi-Use Facility Project. They are currently seeking input from the community, and more information is included below.

Spring Sing Events and Illness Protocols

You will also find information below about our upcoming spring sing events as we close out the month of April. In addition, because many of us are fighting the cold that is going around, we are sharing our recently updated illness protocols, which are aligned with Santa Barbara Unified. If you are unsure whether your child should attend school, please take a moment to review them.

In closing, I want to highlight our Chorus students who sang last weekend at Knott's Berry Farm. Congratulations! Thank you, parents, for your continued partnership and support. I hope you enjoy this week’s highlights.

With gratitude,

Dr. Amy Alzina

Armory Project Survey and Listening Tour

SB

Santa Barbara Unified invites future families from our partner districts to participate in a series of listening tours to help design the new Armory CTE and Multi-Use Facility. This 4.7-acre site will serve as a premier 21st-century learning hub for students across the region, bridging the gap between school and the local workforce.
As your students prepare for their transition to high school, we want to hear what career pathways and facilities are most important to you. Community feedback is essential to ensuring this project serves generations of students to come.
Listening Tour Dates (6-7:30 p.m.):
  • April 16: La Colina Junior High

  • April 21: Goleta Valley Junior High

  • April 27: La Cumbre Junior High

  • May 12: Santa Barbara Junior High

Please take a moment to complete the community survey [Take the English Survey] [Spanish Survey Link]. More details are available on our website.
