Track Meet

Dear Cold Spring Families,

What a wonderful and full week it has been at Cold Spring, and it's only Wednesday!

We started Monday with our annual All Santa Barbara and Montecito Schools Track and Field Meet at Westmont College. Thank you again to our Cold Spring parent volunteers who helped make the day possible for our students and more than 400 students across Santa Barbara and Montecito. For those who would like to read more, Noozhawk published an article about the meet here:

I also want to highlight again the ParentSquare post I shared earlier regarding Cold Spring’s continued commitment to excellence. We were honored to be highlighted in The New York Times this morning, and while we are proud of the work happening at Cold Spring, there is still much work to do across the state to ensure equity and opportunity for all students. This is one of the reasons I remain committed to the ACSA and SSDA state boards. You can read the article here:

Tomorrow is our Cold Spring Art Fair, and our amazing art teacher, Amber O’Neil, has been working tirelessly to prepare this special event. Our students are so excited to share their artwork with you! Please remember that tomorrow is an early dismissal day for all students. Dismissal times are listed below.

A special thank you to Brooke Costello, Cold Spring Foundation President, for her leadership this year and for helping make Casino Night a record-breaking fundraiser. Thank you to all of our families for your generous support.

Yesterday, I also had the joy of spending time with our Principal for the Day, first grader Simone Di Filippo. We had so much fun passing out friendship bracelets and reminding students about the importance of kindness, love, and friendship.

A few reminders:

*Yearbook Deadline: Tomorrow is the last day to order.

*CAASPP Testing: Our 3rd–6th graders are currently testing. Thank you for helping students arrive rested and ready.

*6th Grade Play: Our students will perform Descendants on May 27 and 28.

*1st Grade Patriotic Song Performance: One of my favorite Cold Spring traditions is coming soon, with support from Mrs. Carey, Ms. DiSalvo, and Mr. Pierce.

*Montecito Fire Diaper Drive: Please see below for details on how to support local families.

Next week’s bulletin will include more information about our upcoming All-School Beach Day at the Rosewood Miramar, made possible through their generous support.

Thank you, Cold Spring families, for all the ways you support our students, staff, and school community.

With gratitude,

Dr. Alzina

Art Fair & Early Dismissal - This Thursday

Art FairOur Art Fair is this Thursday on May 14th! This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for parents to step into the classroom and see the projects their students have worked on throughout the year. We invite our community to come on campus from 5:00–6:00 PM to explore classroom artwork. Then, join us outside from 6:00–7:00 PM for food from Mony’s Food Truck and entertainment by the SB Bubble Guy!

We are still looking for additional volunteers, so please sign up through Zoe Copus' ParentSquare if you’re available to help.

Due to the event set-up, we will have an early dismissal schedule on this day as follows:

TK/Kindergarten: 12:15 PM

1st–6th Grade: 12:30 PM

Please Note: Dolphin Center will close early at 4:00 pm on Thursday to accommodate Art Fair setup. Please plan accordingly, as we ask that Dolphin Center be reserved for working families who are unable to pick up their children during the early dismissal.

Thank You Brooke Costello!

Thank You Brooke

I want to take a moment to give a heartfelt shout-out to Cold Spring Foundation President Brooke Costello for her incredible leadership in coordinating this year’s Casino Night, our school’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

Thanks to Brooke’s vision, organization, and tireless commitment, Casino Night was not only a wonderful evening for our community; it was also a record-breaking fundraiser for Cold Spring School.

Most importantly, it was a night filled with connection, joy, and generosity. Our parents showed up once again in support of our students, our teachers, and the exceptional programs that make Cold Spring so special.

Brooke is now in her second year serving as Foundation President, and we are deeply grateful for the time, heart, and leadership she continues to give to our school community.

Thank you, Brooke, and thank you to every parent, volunteer, sponsor, and supporter who helped make Casino Night such a tremendous success.

Principal Simone✨

Thank you to all of our families who purchased raffle tickets for our Principal for the Day experience. Your support means so much to our school.

Although we could only select one student, Simone and I worked hard to make sure everyone felt included throughout the day. We passed out friendship bracelets, visited classrooms, and reminded students that leadership belongs to all of us.

At Cold Spring, we know that every child is a leader, and the positive culture and climate of our school is a reflection of every student, every staff member, and every family, not just one person.

Thank you again for supporting Cold Spring and for helping us create such a special and meaningful experience for our students.
