Dear Cold Spring Families,
I can hardly believe it is already Wednesday! As we move through these busy final weeks of school, I want to take a moment to share a few celebrations, reminders, and upcoming events.
First, a huge congratulations to Ms. Yost, our wonderful kindergarten teacher, who is getting married this weekend! We are so happy for her and cannot wait to celebrate and congratulate her. Please join me in wishing Ms. Yost all the best as she begins this exciting new chapter.
This Friday at 8:30 a.m. in the auditorium, our first grade students will perform their annual Patriotic Sing. This is always one of my favorite Cold Spring traditions, and I cannot wait to see our students shine on stage.
This weekend, our Cold Spring Chorus will also be performing at the I Madonnari Festival from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This is such a special community event, and it is always fun to enjoy the beautiful chalk art and festive atmosphere. We hope to see many of you there!
Looking ahead, our sixth grade students are preparing for their musical, Descendants, which will be performed on May 27 and May 28 at 6:00 p.m. We are so excited to see their hard work and creativity come to life.
I also want to give a heartfelt thank you to all of our parents for supporting our students during state testing. Our third through sixth grade students are powering through ELA and math testing, and our fifth graders also get the added opportunity to complete science testing. These assessments help us understand how our students are performing not only in California, but across the nation. Thank you for helping your children arrive at school on time, well-rested, healthy, relaxed, and ready to do their best with a great breakfast. Your support makes a difference.
As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, May 25, in honor of Memorial Day. On this day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and our freedom. We are deeply grateful for their sacrifice.
We also have several exciting end-of-year events coming up. On Monday, June 1, during our Monday morning assembly, we will recognize our fourth grade award recipients, perfect attendance students, and our top Run Club runners. We look forward to celebrating these students and their accomplishments.
Thank you in advance to all of our parents who are signing up to help drive for Beach Day. This is always a special end-of-year tradition, and we appreciate your support in helping make it possible.
Finally, families of our kindergarten and sixth grade students can look forward to upcoming promotion celebrations. Our kindergarten students will participate in their Moving Up Ceremony as they prepare to move on up to first grade, and our sixth grade students will celebrate their promotion as they prepare for the next chapter in middle school. More information will be shared soon.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership.
My best,
Dr. Alzina

Free Summer Learning Resource: Camp Khan Kids
We are excited to share a fantastic free summer learning resource for our TK–2 students: Camp Khan Kids! This engaging program through the free Khan Academy Kids app offers weekly stories, games, lessons, printable activities, and hands-on projects to keep young learners growing all summer long.
To help students maintain their learning momentum over the summer months, I highly recommend that families have their child spend just 15 minutes a day using Khan Academy Kids. A small daily routine can make a big difference in helping students continue building confidence in reading, math, creativity, and problem-solving.
Families can sign up and learn more at: www.khanacademy.org/kids/camp
