I wanted to share a glimpse of what future-ready learning looks like in first grade! ❤️
In this video, our first graders work collaboratively to design, build, and test bridges; problem-solving, collecting data, learning from failure, and improving their designs. Their teacher. Mr. Francsico even used AI to create a custom app in Lovable that allowed students to track their results as part of the learning experience.
The bridge is also a wonderful metaphor for digital citizenship. Technology can open incredible pathways for our children, but they need a strong bridge to cross them safely. That means teaching our students from the earliest grades to use technology responsibly, safely, creatively, and with balance.
This is the heart of our approach at Cold Spring: project-based and personalized learning, meaningful use of technology and AI, collaboration, creativity, and strong human connection. Technology is a tool, not the destination. Our goal is to prepare every child to confidently and responsibly navigate the world ahead.

After-School Childcare Opportunity for TK & Kindergarten
The YMCA is pleased to offer after-school childcare for TK and Kindergarten students at Montecito Union School (MUS), with care available until 6:00 PM. Space is limited.

Families can register through the Channel Islands YMCA School-Age Care program:
When searching, please be sure to filter the location to Montecito.
Important Information:
Families are responsible for transporting their child from Cold Spring School to Montecito Union School.
Families must also pick up their child from the YMCA's designated pick-up location.
This is a fully licensed school-age childcare program, and all required registration paperwork must be completed before a child may attend.
Rates are standard YMCA program rates and include a one-time, non-refundable $50 program deposit.
If the program is full, families are encouraged to join the waitlist and contact Adrian Ramos at adrian.ramos@ciymca.org. He will do his best to accommodate families as space becomes available.
