A Special Visit to Cold Spring School
Dear Cold Spring Families,
What a week it has been at Cold Spring School!
This morning, I had the great joy of welcoming Adam Welcome to our campus. Adam is a nationally recognized keynote speaker and educational thought leader who has delivered more than 500 keynote presentations across the country focused on education, innovation, leadership, and empowering educators.
Adam is a thought partner, an incredible advocate for education, and, most importantly, a dear friend of mine. Having him take the time to visit Cold Spring this morning was such a treat. His positivity, enthusiasm, and belief in what is possible for children and educators are contagious. Every time I spend time with Adam, I walk away inspired to be a better leader and today was no exception. I am so grateful he had the opportunity to experience the magic of Cold Spring firsthand!
As we finish the week strong and head into our three-day weekend, here are a few important reminders and upcoming events:
Today — Picture Day!
Monday — No School. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday!
Tuesday — Cold Spring School Foundation Annual Fundraiser Kickoff! Keep an eye out Tuesday morning; you won't be able to miss Gavin out front bringing plenty of enthusiasm as we launch this important annual effort!
Monday, September 28 — Sixth Grade Outdoor Education at Pali. Our sixth graders will leave for a week of outdoor education, hands-on learning, team building, and connection. I am so grateful we are able to provide our students with this special experience.
Thursday, October 1, 5:30–7:00 p.m. — New Family Gathering at Cold Spring. To all of our families who have recently joined our school and Montecito community, we hope you'll join us for an opportunity to meet and connect with other new families.
Monday, October 5 — Principal's Coffee: All Things Technology. I invite our families to join me for an open conversation about technology at Cold Spring: what we use, why we use it, and how we approach it thoughtfully and responsibly. Please come with your questions and an open heart as we learn, listen, and grow together.
October 5–7 — Fifth Grade Catalina Island Outdoor Education. Our fifth graders will head to Catalina for their own outdoor learning experience filled with exploration, connection, and hands-on learning.
Finally, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible outpouring of support, kindness, and love that so many of you have shown our teachers, staff, and me this week. It has been deeply felt and deeply appreciated.
Cold Spring is special because of the people who make up this community. Thank you for continuing to partner with us, believe in our educators, and keep our children at the center of everything we do.
Looking forward to finishing the week strong tomorrow and wishing everyone a wonderful three-day weekend!
With gratitude,
Dr. Alzina
