NuCuisine Breakfast and Lunch Sign Up for December

NuCuisine has begun serving breakfast and lunch to our students! We are opening up the sign-up to anyone new who would like to receive meals beginning December 1st. If your child has already signed up for the program no need to sign up again, they will continue to receive breakfast and/or lunch for December. If you would like to make any changes, please contact the office directly.

Meals Request Form for December - New Families who would like to enroll in the program must complete the Meals Form, one per student. The deadline to submit is Friday, November 18th. 


Conferences Week and Minimum Days

All students will be dismissed at 12:15 PM during Conference week which is Monday, November 14th - Friday, November 18th. Dolphin Center will be available at 12:15 PM when the students are dismissed. If your child is going to the Dolphin Center, please send an extra snack in their lunch. Dolphin Center snacks will not be provided until 3 PM. 


                                                                                                                                                                                          

Spirit Day on November 18th: Heads and Tails

Student Council sponsored Spirit Day on Friday, November 18th! Wear ears and/or tails!


Turkey Trot Run: Friday, November 18th at 10:45 AM

The annual Turkey Trot is on Friday, November 18th at 10:45 AM. Every student participates and has a great time chasing our big turkeys. Everyone is welcome to come watch the Cold Spring students chase our Westmont College turkeys. We are looking forward to seeing you there!


Board Highlights from the Monday, November 14th Meeting

  • Dr. Alzina recognized Ms. DiSalvo for directing the Fall Sing performances. 

  • Dr. Alzina thanked Lenci Bakey, Zoe Copus, and Sarah Gower for their coordination of the Fall Festival.

  • Dr. Alzina recognized Coral Godlis for receiving the 2022 ACSA Confidential Employee of the Year Award.

  • Superintendent's Report:

    • CSS Foundation is putting together a Holiday Market. Information has gone out to parents and will be promoted in the Montecito Journal.

    • The Winter Sing will be on December 6th & 8th at 10:30 AM

    • The Turkey Trot is on Friday, November 18th. Boys and girls will be running together this year starting with TK/Kindergarten at 10:45 AM. 

    • Dr. Alzina is working with the Montecito Association on the planning for the event marking the five-year anniversary of the Thomas Fire and Montecito Mudslide.

    • Dr. Alzina reported to the Board regarding the ACSA Leadership Summit. Both Dr. Alzina and Mr. Calderon were presenters at the Summit. 

  • Mr. Calderon reported to the Board regarding the new classroom building project. The project is at the Division of the State Architect for the review of structural changes that were made to the building to reduce the overall cost of the project.  Work is anticipated to resume in December. 

  • Mr. Calderon reported to the Board regarding the construction of the commercial kitchen in the auditorium building.  The specialized kitchen hood has been approved by DSA. Mr. Calderon has submitted for two State grants to cover the majority of expenses related to the new commercial kitchen.  One of the grants is for $100,000 to cover the cost of the structural improvements. The other grant is for $70,000 for the kitchen equipment. 

  • The Board approved the Comprehensive School Safety Plan.

Santa Barbara Junior High School: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Thursday, November 17 and Friday, November 18 at 7 PM at the Marjorie Luke Theater

 


Kids and families are invited to join former NASA scientist Tom Farr to learn about our solar system! 

Join us at the Montecito Library the following Thursdays from 4-5pm:

11/3 - Mercury and Venus

11/17 - Mars

12/1 - Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune

12/15 - Pluto, Planets Around Other Stars and More

 These talks are great for 3rd grade and up, but we've had some delightfully engaged younger kids attend-- all are welcome. (To be frank, the grownups are equally into it.)
