Evacuation Order

Dear Families and Community,

Evacuation Order:

The County Office of Emergency Management just issued an Evacuation Order (11:00 AM) for:

  • Alisal Fire Burn Scar Area

  • Cave Fire Burn Scar Area

  • Thomas Fire Burn Scar Area

The Evacuation Order applies to the same families that evacuated last week.  Our hearts are with these families right now.  Please contact me directly if you are in need of shelter.  I have some friends in Santa Barbara that have offered their guest homes to any family in need.

Today's Press Conference:

Montecito Fire Chief, Kevin Taylor, has asked that we all tune in to today's press conference that is happening NOW (11:00 A.M.) on KEYT as well as the County Santa Barbara TV 20.

Afterschool Program Closes at 4 PM:

I am asking that all parents pick up their child/children by 4 PM today.  I want to ensure our staff safely return to their homes before it gets dark.  I am willing to watch any child until the normal working hours of 5:30 PM if you are unable to leave work early.  Please respond to this post if you need childcare after 4:00 PM so I can plan accordingly.

Be Prepared:

We are strongly urging our families to:

Weather:

The website Weather Underground is a great resource for you to get an idea of when the anticipated heavy rains will fall.

Cold Spring School:

I am encouraged as I continue to hear from Chief Taylor that the Cold Spring School campus is NOT located in an evacuation zone.  Therefore, we can continue to provide a sense of normalcy and joy for our children.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you or your child is in need of support.  I will continue to provide you with information as it is made available to the District.  We got this!

My Best!

Dr. Amy Alzina
